Year 4

Friday 10th January 2025

Good Morning year 4,

Well done for your tasks yesterday if you managed to do them! I'm looking forward to reading them with you when we are back in class. For today you have an English task based around the book "Until I met Dudley" and a Maths activity on rounding.

I will be on TT rockstars again at 10:30am to do a tournament! I will play 3 games so make sure to join me. Lots and lots of Dojos to be given out.

If you're in the choir, note the updated Choir tab on the home learning page of the website with an update of a new song to begin learning.

Don’t forget about the Times Tables Rock Stars head-to-head competition against the teachers. Right now the teachers are in the lead, but we know you can turn it around! You get points for every correct answer, so jump into jamming or garage mode and help your class reclaim the top spot or you'll have to listen to the likes of Mr Robertson gloating all term!

Have a great Friday and an even better weekend! Remember to stay safe and hopefully (fingers crossed) we will be back to our classroom on Monday.

Take Care,

Miss Collins, Mrs Carmen and Mrs Howard.

I will also be hosting a tournament on TTRS at 11am for our class only! There are lots of Dojos to be won, get ready! Look for the room I am in and join me, let's see if you are as quick as me!

Stay safe and keep warm,

Looking forward to seeing every one of you shortly

In our English lessons we have started to look at the Merchant of Venice. Here is a brief reminder of what the story is about.

A long time ago, in the beautiful city of Venice, there lived a merchant named Antonio. A merchant is someone who buys and sells goods. Antonio was kind and loved helping his friends. One day, his best friend, Bassanio, needed money to go and try to marry a very clever and rich lady named Portia. But Antonio didn’t have any money at the time, so he decided to borrow it from a man called Shylock, who was a moneylender. Shylock agreed to lend the money, but he made a strange and serious deal: if Antonio couldn’t pay the money back on time, Shylock could take a pound of Antonio’s flesh (which means a piece of his body!). Time passed, and Antonio couldn’t pay the money back because his ships (which carried his goods to sell) were lost at sea. Shylock came to take his “pound of flesh,” and everyone was very worried for Antonio. But guess what? Portia, Bassanio’s clever wife, came up with a smart plan! She dressed up as a lawyer and went to court to save Antonio. She told Shylock he could take the pound of flesh, but he wasn’t allowed to spill a single drop of blood—because the deal didn’t mention blood. Of course, this was impossible, so Antonio was saved! In the end, everyone learned lessons about kindness, forgiveness, and fairness.
