Good Morning Reception!
I hope you’re all staying cosy and having fun on your extra time off school! Today, I’ve put together a few activities for you to try, and if you finish those, there are some extra fun ideas you can have a go at if you want. They are in the PDF file below.
Have a great day, enjoy learning at home, and don’t forget to take some time to play in the snow! Stay warm and have lots of fun!

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the snow! Here are a few activities for you to complete today and then some suggested activities if you wish to complete those too. Please upload photos of your activities to tapestry, I will be giving out Dojos for super work!
Phonics
Watch the following phonics videos:
Maths
- Shape hunt (I have attached 2 photographs at the bottom of the page explaining the activities)
- Numbots (please message me if you do not have your child’s login and I will send this to you)
Writing
- Draw or make a picture to show the cold, icy, snowy weather.
- Write 3-5 words to describe your picture; these could be words like fun, snow, cold, ice, white, wet, snowman, freezing,
- Encourage your child to use the sounds they know to write each word (for example cold might look like cowld or they may use a capital i to show the sound I in white, wIt) Children should use their Fred Talk (e.g fun, f-u-n) and then their Fred Fingers (one finger for each sound) to help them write each word.
Other suggestions for activities:
- Birds find it really hard to find food when it snows. Can you make a bird feeder by threading hooped cereals onto some string or a pipe cleaner? Hang it in your garden or outside a window for the birds to enjoy on this snowy day.
- Collect some snow in a pot and bring it indoors. What happens to the snow? Can you watch it and talk about how it changes?
- Can you use your finger or a stick to write your name in the snow? How big can you make the letters?
- Read your favourite story together and talk about the story together.
Most importantly of all stay safe and have fun! I can’t wait to see what you have all been up to.
